HIKE 2B-RAD

HIKE-A-THON | October 1 - 31, 2025

ABOUT THE EVENT:

2B-RAD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has joined forces to do even more good!

HIKE FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS.

Today’s realities are becoming ever uncertain and stressful for our communities at large and we’re seeing higher instances of anxiety, isolation, depression, suicide and obesity than ever before. Let’s get back to what’s truly important. Connecting with each other, protecting nature and engaging with the wild outdoors around us.

During the month of October, we host an annual Hike-A-Thon with a dual purpose: to help you experience nature and to raise money to provide individual scholarships and subsidized services for organizations and communities in need. It's a win win!

Our net proceeds go to providing programs, scholarships and subsidized services for a variety of communities. Check out our services and partners page to learn more.

San Diego County Hikes 2025

10/5 - 8:30am | Fox Point Farms: Opening Event - please note this is the only Sunday hike.

Our opening morning hike will begin at Fox Point Farms in Encinitas, CA. Enjoy a new hike, small bites from the farm, coffee and the inspiring participants of this local community. Register to receive the details. We can’t wait to celebrate this community and kick-off together this year!

Meet up at: 1150 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas, CA – Meet us on the green.

10/11 - 9am | Cowles Mountain: Iconic 360’ Views (via Barker Way)

We brought this favorite back and are going up a different, under-utilized route than before. This trail climbs up a different hillside with views of Lake Murray along the route to Cowles Mountain summit (3.2 miles and 853 ft elevation). Beginning at 6940-7022 Barker Way ~ this is an estimated 1.5 - 2 hours out & back. Start time is: 9am

Afterward, we plan to drive 10 minutes to Santee Lakes. Here you can join us for cards, play time on the lake (with pontoon boats and fishing), or a bbq. Desire to spend the night camping with Scott, Rich and Cole- grab a campsite here. Note: sites 57, 58, 96 and 88 are the closest to our group but all sites are a short distance. Desire to just come back in the evening for a campfire hang- come one or all: hike in the morning, join the afternoon hang or evening campfire!

10/18 - 8:30am | Lake Hodges Coast to Crest Trail

Join us for a scenic route around the edge of Lake Hodges. This trail provides stunning views of the lake and surrounding hills. It’s a well-maintained, multi-use trail that follows the shores of Lake Hodges, offering beautiful water views. The path is lined with vibrant wildflowers in late spring and early summer. You’ll have the opportunity to spot local wildlife and a brief nature escape without venturing too far from your city roots on this 3-6 mil hike with 173ft elevation.

Meet at Del Dios Community Park.

10/25 - 9am | Bridge to Balboa Park Trail

Our closing morning hike will explore the bridges of Banker’s Hill and Balboa Park. Here we will cross 5 local bridges, most overlooking wildlife canyons, while enjoying this urban trail in and around Balboa Park. Come celebrate this year’s hike-a-thon impact and enjoy a picnic with us afterward. Register to learn our meeting point. We can’t wait to celebrate community and our accomplishments on the trails together this year!

*Maps, meeting places, and hike details will be provided to all hikers registered to in-person events.

Every hiker is eligible for this year’s miles based tickets to win some RAD swag BUT, those miles must be captured through Strava! Beginning October 1st - you can track your miles all month long. You can register for the hike-a-thon beginning in September. Check back for our registration link.

The more miles you track, the more tickets you get to help access hiker prizes and perks. Soon you can click above to register and track your miles.
